The Dempsey Uniform and Supply 132,000 sq. ft. operation facility is a good example of how a well thought out building translates into commercial and aesthetic success.
A cultural buzzword, “Branding” is the integration of all the tangible and intangible personality traits of a company.
DxDempsey integrated the established and recognized colors of Dempsey Uniform’s logo into the design elements of the building. This building is not only an operation facility, but a showcase for the state-of-the-art laundry process as well. Because many vendors and customers tour the facility, DxDempsey decided that the building design was an ideal tool to build on the well-established brand, identity and culture.
The lobby is not your typical factory reception area. Rather, it is an invitation to motivate the customer to remember the brand, right down to an original staircase made of wood elements that express the “overlapping and folding” laundry process which occur within the plant. In addition, the balcony guardrail system has historic photography laminated in the glass, while a time-line replaces the handrail. Visitors are able to literally as well as figuratively walk through the history of the company.
DxDempsey worked with management to ensure that the office layout would inspire teamwork while at the same time provide a comfortable, focused work environment.
From the beginning we had our whole team looking at the full range of green issues. From the location on site to the use of recycled and eco-friendly building materials. The green design and day lighting principles used in the office spaces and lobby aligns with the design of the plant itself in which heat recovery systems, a stack economizer and efficient automated equipment all lead to tremendous water and energy savings.
